reviews of Lodore Falls Hotel weddings
Came for a stay over wedding. great location and excellent service. Venue very beautiful place with excellent staff. And then had a lovely canoe on the lake in the morning very refreshing early start to the day.
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. And reassured that we had no need to worry about our wedding day. The staff at the hotel are fantastic, friendly and are a pleasure to speak to. We had a suite for the bride and a lake view room for me, the groom on the eve of the big day. Both rooms were immaculate, with everything you could ever want. Our wedding could not have gone any better.
A stunning location
A stunning location and the staff that looked after us were top notch, a big thanks to them from us and our guests. The rooms we had been spacious and well equipped with glorious views. Breakfast is top notch and plenty of it too. The spa is spotlessly clean with different types of heat rooms. And the outdoor heated pool is something special. It’s a beautiful hotel in a stunning location, topped off with fantastic staff.
Quick summary, fantastic venue, great staff and surroundings. Highly recommended!!
My wife and I got married at the Lodore Falls Hotel in April this year. We selected Lodore Falls as our wedding venue last minute in wedding terms. 12 months in advance of the date we were to get married. This came after much deliberation over the location with my wife. To be honest I wasn’t convinced. But it had got to the stage where I couldn’t be bothered debating it any longer, and she loved it. Breaking the hotel down into the individual areas and why it is ideal for a wedding:
All hard working and incredibly polite. This extends from the wedding coordinators. Who you’ll liaise with up to the event (Georgina and Nicole) who are brilliant. To the team who will manage you on the day (David and his team for us), to the general hotel staff. On the build up to the day we did most of our organising via email with Georgina and Nicole. And arranged a face to face meeting as and when required, which wasn’t often at all – this worked well. On particular wedding day we didn’t have to worry about anything.
Even though the natural instinct is to fret about one thing to the next. Particularly the day before the wedding, our final meeting with David. Who I think was the hotel manager or something similar. Was exactly what was needed for walking through each detail and what would be happening. It certainly eased my partners nerves. It’s worth noting when it came to the coordinating with the registrar and the various suppliers we used. Flowers, DJ, cake etc, the hotel handled all this, which is great as gives you many things less to worry about.
Not ideally situated, down a thin road a few miles south of Keswick. Once you get there the view of the lake. With the waterfall behind offer amazing scenery and views in all directions. Ideal for photos. I must stress we were lucky with the weather for our wedding. The whole weekend was hot and sunny. We made the most of this. And greeting friends and family on the terrace as they arrived the day before the wedding was great.
The hotel rooms and facilities
The hotel has recently been renovated to a quality standard. The main wedding room where you get married, if you elect to go indoors, is modern, stylish and sizeable. One of my initial reservations with the hotel was the size of this room for the wedding breakfast. It comfortably fit 100 people and could have taken a few more no problem.
The conservatory area which is exclusively yours for the day. Is also a reasonable size and recently renovated. Again I must stress, the weather was incredible for us. so our guests spent most of their time outside on the terrace. The other bars throughout the hotel are spotless. And offer alternative space if needed. We used the new Mizu restaurant the night before our wedding.
wedding planning visits
As we stayed the full weekend – and it was superb as usual. On our frequent wedding planning visits we ate there 3-4 times, each time it was amazing. The new spa had also recently opened, we and our guests used this and it was brilliant. Some of our evening guests used it in the day time before joining us in the evening. Other guests used it the day before and/or after. Everybody said they had a great experience in there. In terms of bedrooms, the hotel accommodated all our guests who wished to stay there with no issues. There are many different rooms.
A standard room was about £200 with the wedding voucher. Not too bad given it was a bank holiday and in the heart of the lake district. The rooms range from standard rooms in the original hotel. To new spa suites in the newer part of the hotel or above the spa facility which is next to the main hotel. I stayed in one of the new spa suites with my groomsmen and it was a treat. My wife stayed in the new spa suite in the main hotel and again, this proved well worth it. The suites weren’t complimentary with our wedding package. But they were offered at a discounted rate. Not only on the night of the wedding, but the night before.
We elected very last minute to get married outside. In front of the stunning new gardens (recently re-landscaped). Again this proved a great choice when it came to the pictures from the day. The alternative is to get married in the Derwent Suite. Where the wedding breakfast and evening ceremony take place. We didn’t experience the hotel staff having to turn the room around. Between the wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast. However, I have no doubt the Lodore Team would carry this out seamlessly.
The menu is extensive. We were allowed to offer our guests the choice of three options for starter, main and desert. We only received positive feedback on the food. And my wife and I thought it was amazing as good as we have had at any wedding before. A taster day isn’t included as part of the package we chose. , but we elected to pay £50 for one which was worthwhile and a good excuse to get up to the hotel in advance of the day. For the evening ceremony, there is also a range of options you can choose. Dependent on the package you may choose. We went for simple chips and sausage and/or bacon baps – again no complaints.
The Lodore Team were amazing. The hotel was every bit as good as we expected. If the sun is out it is stunning and if it isn’t, the new renovated facilities still offer a unique experience. I couldn’t recommend the hotel enough !
